BRINGING HISTORY TO LIFE
Born of the apparent absence of socially responsible Asian & Pacific Islander (API) American teaching materials, Crossing Boundaries launches teachers and their students into the wide world of API American history. Irene Dea Collier, a teacher of over 35 years, published author, and member of the Association of Chinese Teachers, partnered with her daughter Lora Meilin Collier to create this curriculum book for grades K-12.
Crossing Boundaries offers portraits, biographies, and trading cards of 20 API Americans who have impacted U.S. history, accompanied by innovative and engaging activities. Acknowledging that this offering of 20 biographies is only a beginning and admittedly incomplete, the book encourages additional research, and also provides a list of over 100 more influential API Americans for exploration and use in the activities.
Black and white line illustrations are ideal for photocopying and then coloring in classrooms and at home.
